A journalist for 40 years, Kevin Palmer has worked on high profile regional newspapers, including the Derby Evening Telegraph, and the award-winning Birmingham Daily News, Europe's first free metro daily paper.
He has covered all types of story and specialised in reporting defence issues, local and central government, economic development and regeneration, and business.
Kevin has travelled the world and worked on assignments in Germany, Gibraltar, Belize, USA, France, Belgium, Spain, Sweden, and Italy.
He has also worked in press and public relations for two councils, including Derby City.
Throughout his career Kevin earned the respect of councillors, officials, and business representatives as well as that of fellow professionals.
In 2004 he set up his own business which involves some freelance writing as well as press and public relations. He has had items regularly in newspapers, magazines, online, radio and television.
Kevin has an empathy with and awareness of the difficulties faced by people who have started their own enterprises. He has successfully used his press and public relations know-how on behalf of several new businesses to achieve publicity that helps them grow.
He is a member of East Midlands Chamber, enterprise agency Erewash Partnership, Amber Valley Business Club, and the National Union of Journalists.
Away from work Kevin helps a small local charity that sends much-needed aid to help children in Honduras. He also likes travel, countryside walking, sport(he runs a badminton group), quizzes, local geography/history/customs and enjoys a pint of real ale.

A keen sports fan, Kevin Palmer met one of his heroes, 400m sprinter and Olympic silver medallist Roger Black when he came to the University of Derby's Enterprise centre to launch the Let's Do Business project. Funded by the European Regional Development Fund, it uses various activities to help businesses grow. Kevin Palmer Media Services is an approved contractor for the project.
